Jerusalem, 16 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreased by 0.3% in May 2026, compared to April 2026, reaching an index level of 104.8 points (base: average 2024=100.0 points).
The CPI excluding vegetables and fruits and the CPI excluding energy each decreased by 0.2%, reaching an index level of 104.8 points.
The CPI excluding housing decreased by 0.6%, reaching an index level of 103.9 points.
Price decreases were recorded in the following categories: fresh vegetables, which fell by 4.9%, transportation, which fell by 2.7%, and furniture and home equipment, which fell by 0.4%.
Notable price increases were recorded in the following categories: fresh fruit, which rose by 6.7%, clothing, which rose by 1.9%, culture and entertainment, which rose by 1.1%, and housing, which rose by 0.6%.
Since the beginning of the year, the CPI has increased by 1.2%.
The CPI excluding fruits and vegetables and the CPI excluding housing have increased by 1.1% each, and the CPI excluding energy has increased by 1.0%.
In the last twelve months (May 2026 compared to May 2025), the CPI increased by 1.9%.
The CPI excluding vegetables and fruits and the CPI excluding energy increased by 1.8% each and the CPI excluding housing increased by 1.3%.
